The Message

Updated: Jun 26

Where have these last five days gone? It feels like just yesterday I was sitting with the pieces stuck in time; but the human clock tells me time is flying "bye".

The break was very much needed after the digging I have been doing to heal the parts of me that just want to live a life of purpose and full of love.

Guess what?!?!?!? I am doing just that. Everyday. I am surrounded by some of the greatest humans on this planet, of the ones I have been blessed enough to cross paths with; and I look forward to the all the great ones still waiting for me.

The last five days have been so full of love, and I was not just a witness but a participant in the poetic beauty of events. I want to share the light that comes with healing and acceptance. Acceptance that we are all in this together, whatever "this is" that all of us are experiencing simultaneously.

I hope you hear the message too. The messages have been sent on the wings of "little bird" and sung out in the wind, the angels are whispering it is true. Love is the purpose of life, and we are in it to win over all of the things that are meant to keep us stuck in place.

Friday: 50th birthday party of a friend. Not one I see or talk to every day, but the beauty is, we don't really need to. It seems, we both just know that the other person is for life no matter how far the time or distance. However, it is not the love of our friendship I felt in abundance that day. It was bigger.

I want to talk about the love I witnessed for this friend and of those that gathered to celebrate. We all know him differently and we all love him with a familiarity that feels the same. What a blessing! I would not have recognized the significance of this gathering had I not been in tune with myself that day. I was present in the moment, watching other humans come together with laughter, stories and love in the same moment of time. I felt nothing but love and unity and I thought this is what builds community.

And then, I would be remiss to not mention the love between my friend and his selected life partner and wife. I am witness to another side of love and that was of a husband and wife. I saw with my own eyes that love can survive the hardest of times. The love I saw in her eyes, is the love I want the world to find. I ask the universe to continue to bless my friends and all of their tribe that I am blessed to be a part of.

Poppa Dean and Mama Kari may your love continue to shine for many more years to come. Love you and your people.

Saturday: It's wedding day. My niece made such a beautiful bride. But here again, I could go on about how blessed I have been to be accepted into her life. However, she was too little to realize that I would turn out to be that "crazy Aunt" that would eventually get herself outlawed out of the outlaws. But all of these years later and on her special day, she chooses to still love me, and I humbly accept. I am so grateful to have shared in her special day.

Should you be wondering what I mean when I say, "outlaw", you know, it's the plural to "in-law" when the numbers aren't equal in ratio of where the family begins. The outlaws are born in fun by a shared place and time with people we all love. May our bonds always be as strong as the love that brought us there. I know you know who you are.

And while most would say this would be the time to focus on the bride and groom, theirs is not the love I need to speak of. I have witnessed them together, I know their union is blessed by something greater and created by more than human love. They have a beautiful bond that won't be denied. Theirs will be a love that stands the tests of time. I heard the message in their vows and promises. I believe their love will win. Bri & Jim, you got this!

The love I want to bring to light was the love I found in the families that were brought together to celebrate the couple in love. The families that are brought together through marriages and divorce. The families that argue and fight. The families that stand strong through struggle and strife and death. The families that put their differences aside to celebrate all that is good in life despite the challenges each of them face.

As an outsider that was welcomed in, then left, I have always been welcomed back in, in the name of friendship. This is such a gift, and I believe it is one that is often overlooked. My love for those that were left behind, you are a memory that I revisit from time to time. I replay the good with gratitude of our time.

To give meaning to this gathering, I saw 10 family names come together that are connected in this life by these two very special people that invited them to share in their day. Their friends and family extend into 10 family dynamics and probably more than I didn't know to count. No two families the same, even if they share a name. Different backgrounds and faith, different ages and races, no two couples the same.

Peace among the people. Collectively, it restores my faith in humanity. If only we could love that openly every day without the fear of getting hurt and feeling pain. I sit back and wonder if that is the message the angels were sending via the birds in the air on that beautiful, sunny wedding day.

That without pain and loss, we would miss the poetic moments that are wrapped in love and joy. I think had I not recognized my own personal experiences in this life with those around me; I would have not been present in theirs. I saw love and hope and new beginnings for the happy couple, but I also saw pain and loss, healing, forgiveness and grace in all of those that gathered around.

To the families that share the ties in this human life, I am thankful for our time and hope that you found a missing piece or was able to let one go, in this celebration of love and life. May you find your missing "peace" in these little moments of time that are the blessing of life.

Love, Light and Messages.
