Secrets

Updated: May 7

There are good secrets and then there are bad secrets. The good secrets we call surprises and the bad ones we call trauma. Interesting isn't it. How is there always a balance? And how do we judge which is which? By the way it makes us feel. We never forget how someone, some place or thing makes us feel.

I am a vault of secrets. Mine and everyone else's. You need a ride or die; I'm in.

Do we ever stop and process the feelings or are we too busy rushing off to the next task, the next responsibility, the next, next. I believe that if I promise to keep a secret, I'm taking it to the grave. If I believe your secret is hurting you or someone you love, I will give you the option to tell on yourself before I tell to help you.

Sometimes, we keep secrets because they are ours. Something just for us, a special moment that is spent with oneself. These are some of my most favorite memories. I have been around long enough to have made a few mistakes that I'd like to have kept to myself.

If I have given you my secrets, I hope when you retell it, I remain nameless. I trusted you; it wasn't your secret to tell.

Sometimes, we keep secrets that we shouldn't. These are the harmful secrets. These are the ones that will cause harm much later in life if not addressed in truth when the secret is given breath. They will surface as stress and anxiety, chronic pains and illnesses. Addictions. These will eat you alive until you find yourself longing to die.

That seems a bit excessive you say. Have you ever lost a loved one to an overdose or suicide? What secrets were they carrying that were too heavy of a burden that they couldn't find another person to connect with and share those burdens? What could possibly be that bad, that they couldn't share and heal themselves? Why couldn't we save them from themselves?

I am not here to tell you how to live your life nor do I want the burden of fixing your problems. I am not asking you to fix me either. What I want to provide is a shelter for you to come to terms with life on your own. I will meet you where you are and provide only what I am able.

See, I too, have been carrying secrets and some of them have eaten at me because I had refused to acknowledge my truth. Compartmentalizing life's events and building walls, blocking out my soul's truth, rather than dismantling the chaos around it.

I was hit with a sense of bewilderment when I realized that some of my secrets had been lies. The lies I had to tell myself in moments of survival. That I deserved the secrets that I carried, that it was my fault this was my secret. This can be a very cold and lonely process of digging up dirt and unburying the secret memories that hold us back.

The lies I told myself about my skin, my weight, my upbringing, how I was raised, I mean the list here is as long as the day can be. Do we ever really know someone? Would we want to?

This is a mysterious word that can make or break friendships, marriages and careers.

Sometimes, people carry secrets like a wild card up their sleeve and use it as a superpower.

These are the leaders of collective healing. The angels that light a path for others to see that they too have the potential to turn secrets into a weapon of success and justice.

Secrets. What secrets do you carry? If you need somewhere to lay the burden, I will help you put it down. If you need to share the excitement of surprise, I will help celebrate the secrets of your heart.

I promise to help you set them free out into the universe so your light may shine as you let go and set yourself free from the secrets that keep you caged in your mind.

And if you have secrets that have left you sitting alone in the darkness, I am here for you, shining light just ahead. Only you have the power to set yourself free.

Love, Light and Secrets
