Poetry aside

When do we stop dreaming dreams? When do we stop believing we can control our destiny? When do we stop believing our parents, that "we can be anything we think we can, we can even be President of the United States". When do we stop believing? (Sorry Journey, it happened.)

Can you put a price on a dream? Can a dream be too big? I don't think so.

I believe that if you are brave enough to think it and you tell yourself all the reasons why not, the thought is a lost opportunity to experience change, to live as someone new, to be someone better! But when you think of all the reasons why you should do something, what stops you or pushes you to or from the next step? What happens in that split second a decision is made to either follow that dream or to walk away; in the hope a new one comes around before we get too old to dream at all.

What dreams did you have that you would love to see come true? If you can still dream it, with the right amount of passion and drive, be willing to be challenged and to see signs that you are on the right path. You will sacrifice to reach abundance, there will be loss of people and things because they no longer fit into your dream, and this is okay to let people go. But it will hurt, and you will heal to a better version of who you had been. The road won't be easy but never give up! You have to want it with all the trust and let faith bring you to it. Scary, isn't it? Do you feel the butterflies in your stomach when you think about it? Does the dream bring bliss to your mind? Do you see yourself as that person? Why aren't you? What is stopping you from living your dreams?

Is that when we stop dreaming? When we feel the uncertainty and discomfort of not knowing if we will look foolish to others. Not knowing if we will fail. Will we succeed and then what would happen? Dream of a new dream? Dare to dream bigger? Dare we dream a dream big enough to make a change in the world? To dream of being the change we want to see in the world. Are we waiting for someone else to tell us it's okay to still dream, no matter what age or perceived obstacles? Who stole your dreams? Did a dream turn into a nightmare? Are you living the dream you asked for? Working that job you wanted and got, maybe not. I believe dreams do come true. Maybe not in fairytale style but dreams can be achieved.

I have a new dream. It's changed a lot over the years and when I sit back, I can say I have achieved more than I thought I would. I achieved dreams I didn't even know I had. I wrote a book of poetry. Who would have thought I had it in me to make my own dream come true.

Your dreams don't need to make sense to anyone but you! Chase your dreams! Go after them... reach for the stars and you just might find yourself shining as bright as the moon.

You might even find yourself on a vacuum cleaner in the desert trying to get to a concert to see your boyfriend perform. The year was 1989.

Oh wait, there IS a poem for that.

Don't fear to dream

Dream the big dreams

I'll be living the dream,
