Is submission the ultimate act of love? Controversial of course because that word invokes a sense of violence. The images that come to one's mind, is tsk tsk, tsk. (I giggle.)
What did that poem say to you? Did you feel for her? Did you fear for her?
Do you believe it is against her permission? Do you think it's abuse? Do you believe that he is a monster? Did it bring a "50 Shades" vibe to mind?
But what if it was none of those things at all? What if it was her ultimate gift of love?
What if this is how she asks to be worthy of his darkness as well as his light? What if her love was meant to save him from his suffering? What if her submissiveness to his pain was the cure?
Just WHAT IF, in her submission while taking his pain away, it is that very submission that helps heal what is broken inside of her? It is not our responsibility to tell her how to feel.
The ultimate trust in his love is that he won't really hurt her, but he will give her his pain by turning it into love. He opens his heart and gives her his soul in return. An exchange of energies, open minds and loving hearts having a primal moment.
To give oneself to another in full faith and to want to actually stop another person's suffering, is the ultimate act of love? What on earth trumps that?
She loves so much that he cannot scare her away with the fears he holds inside.
She will take the punishment that she deserves as the person he has chosen. She will love him at his best and she will love him at his worst. And with trust in her heart, she knows he would do the same.
The dark side of love brings back the morning light for the lovers in this story.
In a way, are we all not submissive to love in some way? Are we not here to comfort and love the good and the bad?
I believe this poem is about healing your lover in their darkest moments and knowing it was love's submission that was the cure.
Ah but what do I know? It's not like I was there.
