I wrote this poem for my sister one morning on a whim. While attending a hair show, that she was in charge of putting on for the entire beauty industry in the Tri State area and beyond! To say this was an important time in her life would be understating how amazing she is!!

She is something. My sister, the professional. Leading in an industry, that I myself never really paid too much attention to throughout life.

I mean, like all young girls finding themselves in the formative years, I dabbled with perms, and color and cuts. I get my nails done or have the yearly pedicure. I even sold cosmetics once as a side hustle. And now, I am one outfit away from an intervention on any given day, rain or shine. You would never guess I know the difference between gel and mousse!

From the beginning of her career, I would volunteer to be a test subject when she would learn something new and exciting! Did it always turn out well, it would be a lie if I said yes.

I remember her when she was a child, she was always so gentle and yet there was always a subtle willfulness about her that made her stand out. Not to mention her blonde hair and these beautiful blue eyes that penetrate your soul, if you can get her to slow down long enough to see them! She is one of the most driven persons I know. I have always admired her for knowing what she wanted to do with her life and then going after it, even when the dream scared her because it was a BIG dream.

Some may think she did it to be successful financially and I'm sure that comes into play with a family to take care of.

She is recognized in her profession for being a teacher, a leader, and an innovator within an industry, that with just one "tweet" or "post" is subjected to endless opinions of what the definition of beauty is or what it feels like to experience a makeover.

I would like to think what makes her successful in her true chosen profession, the business of people, is that she is successful by and for, leading with her heart.

Her drive and passion come from her heart where she wants to see other people succeed, to feel good about themselves. She works hard to make a difference by helping other humans feel seen, and she shows them how to love themselves in their own unique style and beauty with confidence; in a time where the world still judges us upon how we look, how we talk, how we dress, etc. She picks people up and helps them see the beauty they hold inside themselves.

I could just go on about her forever. I admire her. She has never given up on her dreams and she in chasing them, has been rewarded with true success, in answering her soul's purpose. I know that every person that has met my sister would agree.

So, to my sister, I dedicated this blog and poem.

We may not have always seen eye to eye, and as with any relationship, we have had our ups and downs, but forever, we shall always be sisters.

I just happen to get the bonuses of having her has a confidante and friend, all wrapped up in one, My Stylist, the most important of all.
