Music is Love

That can't be Unsung.

I know, music is not important to everyone, but everyone enjoys it at some point in their life. A memory is almost always guaranteed to be attached to some song.

Music to me is as essential as air or food. The foundation of my existence. I speak in song lyrics and think of my life as a musical. Music IS my love language!

My life is a musical full of poetic moments that may not have been remembered had that one song not been playing in the background for the 100th time that day. The song that is now a private joke between me and my friends as we sing out of tune or my family and I when we rush to see who can turn it off first!

My life is made up of songs that I privately love so that people don't judge me for it because they never hit #1 or was the B side or maybe not the artist's best work.

What is the song that fills your heart with memories of yesterday when your child was a baby learning to walk or crawl, or reminds you of someone or sometime in some far-off place? What song comes to mind brings feelings of hurt, resentment and pain or brings laughter and joy? Maybe, a playlist that is a healthy combination of both.

And if you have no thought of music at all, then I am sorry that it didn't burn something into your soul. I believe there is indeed a song for every occasion to match the feelings in that moment. Or maybe, I love music because it was an essential part of my life growing up.

When your family business is providing the soundtrack that plays during these momentaneous memories as they happen, other people's memories become your memories; their songs become your songs, and then those songs become part of your own life's playlist.

Music to me is magical. When the story being told is as solid as the emotion behind the words, I will lose myself. I mentally break it down into:

Every infliction of the singer's intention as it is coming through the air waves

Every instrument's unique sound as it is introduced into the song

And then I let all of these sounds that are happening at the exact same time tune my soul and mind to the point that the song becomes an experience throughout my entire body. The woodwinds, the brass, the strings, the percussions, the keyboards, tambourines...... all combined with the layering vocals of the singer.... it is a delicious ride every time!

Now add a memory. The goosebumps on my flesh!!!

Is there a song for every story or is there a story for every song? That's the magic of music. It's the narrator of our lives and we don't even recognize it. It is a mathematical equation of sound meant to vibrate our souls and to give us life.

Some songs bring fun and nonsense

Some bring back heartbreak and pain

Some bring back love and laughter

Some create the feeling of endless longing for another time

Some are searching for answers or of things to come

Songs are fuel for the soul.

A lyrical gift of understanding that we share in any given moment. And some songs just can't be unsung or forgotten no matter how hard we try.
