If I could compare my life to an inanimate object, I believe it would be an elevator.
It has been full of ups and downs and occasionally the doors pause to open or close to let people, places and things in or out.
With each moon cycle that passes, a divine dream has me reaching for the stars in each new level of life.
I'm on the universal elevator ride of life. When the doors close, they always reopen.
Seems a lot like the old adage, "when one door closes, another opens", doesn't it?
But who holds the key to the endless possibilities on the other side of those doors?
You can find love and make friends until the doors open and then become strangers again because our floors of life aren't the same. We only have this brief moment in time.
Sometimes, you may find yourself locked in this box with someone who rubs you the wrong way, trapped in the back and you can't get off the ride; air is thick, stuck somewhere in between floors with no escape.
Life is the elevator, and we are collectively pushing each other's buttons on the ride.
Different chances and choices leading to success or failures behind every door on every floor.
SEE! Right here because we walk through the ones we are destined to and when it is time for the next ride, the doors reopen and take us to the next level of life.
Maybe life is the elevator ride to heaven, and we are missing the best views being so intent on getting to the destination; but a soulful insight isn't the topic today.
Let us let life's elevator play the rest!
These top three go out to those that stood just outside the open doors of my heart.
You met me with a smile and a wave and friends we became. Our paths lead to separate journeys, leaving a memory to be revisited someday. Today is that day.
In no particular order the shuffle button goes
Love in an Elevator - Aerosmith '89
"I thought I found love in an elevator once, maybe twice
A missed chance in my heart's search for eternal love
Sorting through each encounter as if my future self depends on it
We made memories with just a "hello" in an elevator that random day
A song longer than the elevator ride looped with no beginning and no end
An opportunity perhaps missed, may his life be blessed" --- entry from the journals of nightmare in red
Justify My Love - Madonna '90
"In search for the absent love my heart desires; lost in games of chance as those doors open and close. Love becomes the addiction of my soul, constantly filling the cup with a hole. The cracked cup in the center and its never-ending void. Indulgence and shame make love to my memory with every lost lover's name. Not every hand played but justified by dependence on my three of cups. Love sent not meant to fill me just yet, but surprise little pleasantries that I will never forget" -- entry from the journals of nightmare in red
The Promise - When in Rome '88
"I release myself from promises made to and by unhealed versions of me in all the times I couldn't change. Promises made let go in hope that that one day this heart of mine will find my place that finally feels like home. I promise to live my life one inRhymes at a time and to be grateful for the hearts left behind. Hearts sent that I wasn't meant to break --- Left unscathed by this nightmare in red."
I think of them with fondness and hope life has been good to them. There is still yet another love not written into the universe about a boy on the bus. But that my friends is a story for another time.
Does she find the absent love missing from life? The story lies within these inRhymes. Who will be the one to finally win this heart of mine?
I see myself outside the elevator doors, ready to advance to the next floor. I have to wonder will this nightmare in red ever end, or will I still be standing here watching life's doors close until I am left for dead?
Sometimes the choice isn't ours and we have to wait for what is designed. How much time has to go by, before the next ride? Is up to me, is it I who decides the timeline?
Dear Universe, if you are listening. What is next? I'm ready to walk through the doors to that pie in the sky, think we can make it happen before my soul dies?
This darkness in life has met its end and I'm ready for the next chapters to be begin. I'm ready for a new story to be written. I'm ready to step into the next part of my life, one full of gratitude and blessings and a little less struggle and strife.
Love, light and inRhymes,
Nightmare in Red
