She brings life to the game.

She doesn't mind if I cuss and swear,

She will whisper the naughtiest of promises in my ears.

She doesn't care if I indulge in the cups, never half-full,

She will pour me a fresh one to keep my spirits up.

My breath catches as she begins dealing to the left,

The way her fingers stroke each card, like a caress to my chest.

She will hold my stare while she slides her chips, placing her bet,

And that's when I begin to feel the heat rising on my neck.

Her gaze burning through me as she lights her cigarette,

Lipstick imprint in her signature red, as she puts it between her lips.

The passion that burns in each of her plays,

This game could go all night and into the day.

Her poker face unreadable,

I am forever calling her bluff.

I don't stand a chance,

She makes a "72 offsuit" look like a winning hand.

Our clothes piled on the table,

Cards carelessly tossed to the floor,

Stuck in a draw of desires,

in-between right and wrong.

I'm addicted to the games of her heart,

And she'll win every time, right from the start.

I'm taken by a natural player, again and again,

My Queen of Hearts will always win.

The cards have been stacked against me,

I will always lose her in this game of love.

Her stakes are high, and they bind for life,

She's my addiction, the gamble I will always take.

She will keep playing,

Not for the risk and the rush.

She's playing for one and only,

The one that can ---beat her at her own game to -- win her heart.

Am I the one that will win this strategy of wits?
